This captivating large-scale acrylic painting showcases a vibrant palette and energetic brushwork, inspired by the Fauvist techniques of Matisse and Derain, while also reflecting Hockney's modern landscape interpretations. The artwork, part of a recent series, depicts the Mediterranean Sea as seen through a row of trees from the Serra Gelada National Park in La Marina Baixa, located in the Costa Blanca region of Spain. In the background, the town of Altea is situated beneath the Sierra Bernia mountain range. The foreground features tall, colorful tree trunks painted in striking blues, warm oranges, and pinks. Through the trees, the shimmering pale blue tones of the Mediterranean waters are visible. The loose, sketchy leaves create an impression of a warm summer breeze on the mountainside. This impressive piece is signed on the front and is ready for display.
